TN Dept of Children's Services needs our help

KAFCAM was sent this request from Heather Bowers at DCS:

This last year and a half has been a struggle for everyone. The number of foster homes Knox County has plummeted to our lowest numbers in years. This means, there are more children than ever sleeping at the DCS office. Currently there are more than 750 children of all ages in custody in Knox County alone, with several still needing a foster home.

If you have the ability to open your home to foster children, please consider doing so. If you would like more information about opening your home to children in need or have some questions, please go to this website and follow the links to fill out an inquiry form.

After you’ve completed your inquiry and asked all the questions that you have, the next step is registering for foster parent training classes. The first class is an Informational Meeting. You can register for the Informational Meeting/TN KEY dates here.

We appreciate you considering this request. Every child deserves a family, and we are grateful to you for your willingness to explore this adventure. We are pleased to answer any questions concerning fostering with The Department of Children’s Services (DCS).

It really does take a village, and we are here for you and the families we serve.
